WSOP Circuit Now Sends All Ring Winners To $ 1 Million Tournament Of Champions

The WSOP Circuit is back at Bicycle Casino after a 20 month hiatus, and alongside the highly anticipated return of major tournaments, changes are being made to the Tournament of Champions which will begin to take place in LA. Over the next two weeks, 13 WSOP circuit rings will be handed out, but this year those rings will be even more valuable, thanks to some changes announced in October.

The WSOP circuit always ended with the Tournament of Champions – a million dollar No-Limit Hold’em freeroll for the best WSOPC players.

In previous years, only two guaranteed seats were allocated at each stage of the circuit – to the player of the series and the winner of the main event. They joined the top 100 in a season-long points race.

But this year, there is no points race for the classification. Instead, the TOC will be reserved for WSOP-C Gold Ring Winners and Current Year’s WSOP Bracelet Winners.

Ring-winners field

Now, every time a player wins a WSOP Circuit Ring, they will automatically qualify for the $ 1 Million Freeroll that will take place at the end of the WSOP-C season in Las Vegas, during the WSOP. All Gold Ring winners, from live or online circuit events through July 2022, will qualify. All 2022 online or live wristband winners will also be eligible to compete in the new TOC.

The competition for seats began last month with the Circuit’s first stop in Cherokee, North Carolina. The Bike is the second stop of the WSOP Tour Season, which runs until July 2022. At Bike there are 13 rings to hand out, which means Bike winners will also fill 13 seats in the Tournament of Champions.

World Series of Poker vice president Jack Effel said the change was made in hopes of providing more incentives for recreational players to have more opportunities for bigger prize pools.

We wanted to be inclusive for everyone who wins a WSOP ring or bracelet, and give all the winners the opportunity to come together for a big event, and it will be the Tournament of Champions, ”Effel told CardsChat. “This season is about creating new opportunities for regional players to discover [the] WSOP in an important way while continuing to provide grinders with a platform to make a living, ”

Sean Yu, winner of eight rings of the WSOP circuit, is currently in Los Angeles for the WSOP series at Bike. He applauds the change in qualification standards.

“For every ring winner to go, that’s good. More people, more players; it’s a better marketing tool overall, “Yu said.” If you win a ring, you have a chance to win a million dollar tournament and a bracelet. It’s good. I’m going to be making several stops anyway, but overall it’s great.

WSOP Circuit Expands Reach

The 2021-2022 season of the WSOP circuit kicks off on November 25 in Cherokee, North Carolina, and ends on May 16 at Harrah’s in New Orleans. New stops along the way include a series at Pompano Island in Florida, the Turning Stone Resort and Casino in New York City, and the Deerfoot Inn in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The tour is also returning to the Aruba Hilton after a two-year hiatus.

The WSOP is encouraging tournament organizers at every stage to add events for ladies and seniors, both of which would award winners seats on the TOC. So far, no such specialized event has been scheduled for the WSOP Circuit for any stops, but not all schedules have been finalized and additional stops may still be added.)

Ring winners in all events will secure a spot in the Million Dollar Freeroll, including winners from the Six Hand, Bounty, Deepstack, Omaha and Mixed Games events. In an attempt to standardize tournament structures and payouts, WSOP-C events will be played using a Big Blind Ante format, with each stop offering at least a dozen gold ring events starting at a $ 250 buy-in and including a $ 1,700 Main Event. .

“The WSOP-C is one of our most important initiatives, allowing regional players to experience poker on a grand scale and providing grinders with a platform to make a living,” World Series of Poker Senior Vice President and Executive Director Ty Stewart said in a press release. We are excited about the new Tournament of Champions format where all of our winners will come together for a single event. Win and you’re in! “
