Macy’s, the well-known American clothing retailer, has accelerated growth plans for its out-of-mall small-format store strategy.

In fall 2022, the American retail stalwart is set to open four new small-format, non-mall stores.

Locations include Market by Macy’swhich is a smaller store that gives customers more love with its curated assortment of the latest fashion trends.

Additionally, there is the very first double Market by Macy’s and Macy’s Backstage overpriced location.

Market by Macy’s will open in downtown Johns Creek next month at 3630 Peachtree Pkwy., Suwanee, GA, which marks its third location in the Atlanta metro area in the past year.

Also, its next store in the St. Louis area on THF Blvd. at Chesterfield Commons will reflect an immersive shopping space focused on discovery and convenience.

In particular, the first duel Market by Macy’s and Behind the scenes at Macy’s store will also open this fall in Chicagoland at 9700 South Western Ave., Evergreen Park, IL. Customers can shop at both Market by Macy’s (on the first floor) and In the wings (On the second floor).

The move is seen as part of Macy’s much-talked-about Polaris strategy.

Non-mall, small formats play multiple roles in Macy’s Polaris strategy by building its presence in an existing market, maintaining its market presence by replacing underperforming locations, or entering new markets where Macy’s is not not present.

Also, Market by Macy’s and Behind the scenes at Macy’s customers can pay their bill or pick up their orders at the “At Your Service” counter inside the store – a dedicated location for seamless Macy’s in-store pickups and returns.

Shoppers can earn and redeem Star Rewards and use their Macy’s credit card in both places, creating a seamless experience.

Customers without a Macy’s Card can enroll in the free Bronze Rewards program in-store or online at and earn on every purchase.

Macy’s is known for its apparel, footwear, fashion accessories and bedding, among others, and had annual revenue of US$24.8 billion in 2017.
