The new layout was revealed by the researcher Jane manchun wong, which is well known for showing the upcoming features of Twitter and other apps. As Wong showed, the new layout is similar to apps like Instagram, where photos and videos fill the entire horizontal area of the screen.
Earlier this year, Twitter released a new feature that allows users to download high-quality media with up to 4K resolution. The company also made some adjustments so that images are now displayed at their actual size in the timeline. So it’s no surprise that Twitter wants to further improve the experience of viewing photos and videos in its app.

Another new feature that may be coming to Twitter is the ability to edit tweets. This is a highly anticipated feature by users, but Twitter has never had any interest in implementing it – at least until now. Twitter Product Manager Kayvon Beykpour today shared a poll on his personal profile asking what users think about being able to edit previously posted tweets.
The functionality, however, could be limited to Twitter Blue subscribers, which is a new subscription service that unlocks additional functionality on the social network. Beykpour also suggests that, if available, this option would only be available “a few minutes” after a tweet is posted.
As the company works on new features, Twitter also announced earlier this week that the “Fleets” feature will be discontinued for good. With Fleets, you can post photos, videos and other content that is only available for 24 hours, just like Instagram Stories. This feature, however, doesn’t seem to have had much success with Twitter users.
