Belfast Christmas Market is set to return after a two-year absence marking its 16th year outside City Hall.
The market’s long-awaited comeback comes after it was forced to cancel its event in 2020 due to the pandemic.
Ahead of his return, organizers shared with Belfast Live some details on what to expect this year.

When will the market return to Belfast?
Belfast Christmas Market 2021 opens at noon on November 20 and works until 6 p.m. December 23.
What are the opening hours?
Mon: Wed 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Thursday: Sat 10 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Sun: noon – 6 p.m.
What kind of traders and stalls can we expect to see this year?
There are over 25 different nationalities represented at the Christmas market, from as far away as South Africa. Closer to home, many local businesses will be represented in the market, with 35% traders from Northern Ireland.
Old favorites such as the vintage Dutch Pofitjes stand that serves bite-size Dutch pancakes will return this year.
There will also be a new sushi bar and a Naples stand that will make artisan chocolate.
In addition, the Belfast Christmas Market is currently holding its Pitch Perfect Competition which offers a free chalet at the Market in November and December for a business worthy of the name. Applications can be submitted by email to [email protected] by October 26, 2021
Will the beer tents come back?
Managing Director Allan Hartwell confirmed with us: “Both beer tents will be returning. We have been working with the council on this and will be in full compliance with Covid guidelines at the time.”
What will the layout look like?
In order to accommodate Covid security guidelines, there will be a secure queue area on the Donegall Sq East Side of the market. There will also be additional seating in the food court, as well as additional chalets in the center of the market, adding to the Alpine Christmas vibe. Market organizers said congestion points would be reduced.
What else can visitors expect?
Aiming to be a more inclusive market, the organized Belfast Christmas Market will continue to use the JAM card and app – a tool created by the NOW group that enables people with learning disabilities, autism or communication to tell others that they need “Just a minute”. . The market has also introduced a “quiet room”, a place for those who need a little time to get away from the hustle and bustle.
