480 buildings in Shivaram Karanth Regularized layout

The Supreme Court has ordered the regularization of 480 buildings in Dr. Shivaram Karanth Layout in accordance with the recommendations of the 14th report submitted by the AV Chandrashekhar justice committee, a statement said on Thursday.

The Supreme Court has regularized a total of 2,825 buildings, which are to come in 17 villages, so far. The layout is under development by the Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA).

The court also ordered the BDA to issue certificates of regularization (RC) as well as legal improvement fees to property owners under the guidance of the AV Chandrashekhar Justice Committee. Owners of regularized buildings will be notified by SMS to retrieve their certificates. Certificates will be issued at Medi Agrahara Urdu Primary School near layout on Friday. To receive certificates, recipients must carry a passport size photo, Aadhar card, warning SMS and receipt given by the committee, according to the statement.

Many buildings under regularization were developed between December 2014 and March 2018. In 2014, the High Court of Karnataka canceled the preliminary land acquisition notification for the Layout. In 2018, the Supreme Court upheld the notification and also issued an order to expand the layout.

A total of 7,161 applications were received by the committee earlier for the regularization of buildings in the layout. He also said at the time that the applications were divided into four categories – before 2014, between 2014 and 2018, overflow work started before 2018 and after 2018.
